Assalammualaikum :)  Lets move on with a new topic! This week,our lecturer taught us topic about ...

Computer Hardware Basics :

Computer History, Computer Architecture, Size, Processing Power & Types of Computers

In this week,we learnt about the first generation computer until fifth generation.Is is so interesting topic because while we using this technology,we didn’t even know about how its look like for the first computer.So,in this topic we learnt it and knows about it.So,lets learnt about the first generation computer.

1)    First Generation (1940-1950) :: Vacuum Tube
-ENIAC [1945]: Designed by Mauchly & Echert, built by US army to calculate trajectories for ballistic shells during Worls War II. Around 18000 vacuum tubes and 1500 relays were used to build ENIAC, and it was programmed by manually setting switches
           -UNIVAC [1950]: the first commercial computer
2)    Second Generation (1950-1964) :: Transistors
-William Shockley, John Bardeen, and Walter Brattain invent the transistor that reduce size of computers and improve reliability. Vacuum tubes have been replaced by transistors
3)    Third Generation (1964-1974) :: Integrated Circuits (IC)
-Microprocessor chips combines thousands of transistors, entire circuit on one computer chip.
-Semiconductor memory
4)    Fourth Generation (1974-Present)
           -Combines millions of transistor
           -Single-chip processor and the single-board computer emerged
           -Creation of the Personal Computer (PC)

5)      Fifth Generation (now and the future
-Based on artificial intelligence - computers can think and learn
-Primary means of input – voice and touch

I have learnt also about many different types of computers.Ok,lets learnt about  types of computers.

                         I.            Embedded computers(A miniature computer embedded into a specific product for a specific function

                      II.            Mobile devices/ computers (Fits on our lap/ hand, contain built-in computing or Internet capabilities)

                   III.            Personal computers(Fully functioning portable or desktop computers, designed for a single user at a time)

                   IV.            Midrange servers(Physically likes small cabinet, hosting data and programs available to a small group of users)
                      V.            Mainframes(Consume large space and powerful computers used to host a large amount of data and programs available to a wide range of users)
                   VI.            Supercomputers(Extremely powerful computers used for complex computation and processing)

Other than that,we also learnt qbout Motherboard.Motherboard is a main circuit board in system unit.Its contain intergrated circuit,transistors and chips.It also called as system board.Moreover,our lecturer taught us about Input,Input devices,Output,Output devices.
