We met again silent readers! Today, as usual I want
to share about lessons that we learnt for this week.In this week,we learnt
about
Basic Networking Concepts
1.Do know anything about Computer Network?
-It is simply a group of interconnected computers.
-Two or more computers are
connected via hardware or software, and able to communicate with each other
-Example of a computer network:
2. Why computer network?
-Resource Sharing,Information
Sharing,Promote Communication and Collaboration
We also learnt about
analog and digital signal.It is quite difficult to uinderstand,.Other than
that,we learnt about serial and parallel transmission.In this session,our
lecturer explain about Wireless Media.Our lecturer taught about Wireless Media
which is Microwave System,Satellite System,Cellular Technology,Infrared
Technology.Besides that,we learnt about Types of Network.
Types of Network :-
- Network in small geographical Area (Room, Building or a Campus) is called
LAN (Local Area Network)
- Network in a City is call MAN (Metropolitan Area Network
_ Network spread geographically (Country or across Globe) is called WAN
(Wide Area Network)
Do you anything about Peer-to-Peer Networking.??
- share resources with any other computer on network
How about Server-Based Networks??
-Provide centralized control over resources
-Servers require faster CPUs, more memory, larger disk drives, and extra
peripherals such as tape drives
